A bit about me:
I began my journey into doula service when I was asked to support one of my longest girlfriends for her daughter's birth in 2006. I attended the birth of her second child in 2009 as well and then gave birth to my son at home in Nelson in 2011. I was DONA trained in 2013 and became part of the Kootenay Doula group, mostly providing doula support to Mothers attending the Canada Prenatal Nutrition program I co-coordinated for Kootenay Family Place. I gave birth to my second son in our home now- Victoria in 2018 and am forever grateful for the incredible support I've had through my birthing journeys and parenthood.
Over the years, as a doula and as from my own transformational birthing experiences, I’ve learnt to fully trust that we all instinctively know how to give birth, each in our own unique style. That giving birth can be incredibly empowering and teach us to access an inner strength we may not of have fully known yet.
I hope you feel fully supported in honouring your inner wisdom and finding your rhythm during your birthing journey.
This is how I came to offer InHer Wisdom Doula Services- It’s a fusion of wisdom...all of mine supporting yours
I feel deeply honoured to be able to work with mothers, their partners, loved ones and caregivers during the mysterious journey that is pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum transition.
As a doula I’m a great support not only for expectant and new mothers but for their partner too. During our meetings and right through the birth I help by modeling or reminding the partner how they can be involved in a beneficial way and be the ones to for ex: apply acupressure points and a variety of valuable techniques that are effective for pain relief during labour and childbirth.
I also offer my services postnatally as a Food-Doula. I Love my time in the kitchen and I have a tried and true selection of recipes to offer that my clients will appreciate on so many levels. Having brought so many nourishing meals as a part of supporting my postpartum friends and having baked “groaning cake” with many women during early labour, I know this is a much appreciated piece of my doula work.
I finding real joy and a deep sense of purpose in helping nourish new moms. New Mother's will experience the gambit of mental, emotional, and physical exhaustion, being well nourished at this time by a doula who can support you in so many ways while she's in your home cooking is such a gift.
All in all, I can empathize with what you're going through and have endless energy available to help make your transition into parenthood as smooth, empowering, nourishing and beautiful as can be.
